River Activities
The great variety of activity rivers in the Ruapehu region which offer everything from peaceful canoe treks to white water rafting. Paddle along the Tongariro River, kayak through the rocky boulder chutes of the Whanganui River or take a raft along the Grade 5 rapids of the Rangitikei River.
There’s also the opportunity to take a jet boat along the Whanganui or, if you’re looking for something more traditional, take a journey through the history of the river on a Maori waka (canoe). If that’s not enough to convince you, then how about the opportunity to walk on water?
