Everything Else

With over 5 million participants and over 1.5 million caches across the globe, geocaching is now a worldwide phenomenon.

With over 100 caches within a 50km radius of the township, Ohakune is the perfect destination for geocaching. The fantastic variety of terrain combined with the remoteness of the region makes it a muggle-free paradise with something to keep everyone interested!

Take a walk through the stunning alpine scenery or even hire a bike and take the family out caching along the Ohakune Old Coach Road, into the Tongariro National Park and through the wide variety of easily accessible forest trails.

As well as many beginner level caches, the wilderness conditions mean the difficulty and terrain ratings are regularly 4 star and above so if you’re up for a challenge then this is the place to head to.
